Liberal TreeHugger

I am a conservative but unlike the current breed of "conservatives" I do not believe that the Republican Party is conservative. The current administration is hell bent on spending money taking away rights and playing a shell game with our taxes. I am starting this post to be a direct assault on the radical conservative movement that seeks to distort the record, lie and dupe the American voters into believing they care, are right, and are conservative.

It's hard to make a completion lying on the ground

Look I normally don't weigh in on important matters like this but, the Atlanta Falcon's quarterback Joey Harrington has been called a lot of derogatory names. People seem to forget that when a quarterback hits his receivers in the hands with a pass and they drop it seven times it is really not fair to call him a bad quarterback. How many passes did Tom Brady's receivers, backs and so forth drop? How many times did he get sacked?
So stop blaming Harrington for being a bad quarterback and start protecting him front line.
As for the bottom line, CATCH THE DAMN BALL!

The problem with outsourcing

The problem I see with outsourcing our military functions to a group of private mercenaries is that, over time if we allow this "agency" to be unaccountable to anyone other than a CEO or President or shareholders, is that when it comes time for them to loose their minds and go Apocalypse Now on us, is there anyone left that can take them out. Aside from the Army, nope they can't do it, well then we can send the Marines, right? No? The Navy? What about a strike with the F-18? Nukes? What point do we draw the line and stop these hired killers?

Blackwater seems to be, from what I've seen, the new Confederate Army. Why is it that we are allowing this group of profit motivated killers take the role of the US military? It was all set up by Rumsfeld and Cheney as a way to make the old military obsolete. See it is a problem when the military has to answer to political forces. Just ask the generals in Myanmar... It is much easier to kill someone when you don't have to get congressional approval.

Why is it that no one seems to be concerned that this group is armed to the teeth with machine guns, tanks, attack helicopters, and hordes of men who are itching to kill someone? What are they going to do if they lose the Iraq contract?

Sometimes I think that I think too much

"This Government Does Not Torture"

riiiiight uh okay then we'll just ignore the torture and the memo calling for torture to be used. And the people who've been tortured? Well they are all just mistaken.
To me there is no difference between Bush saying we don't torture and Bill Clinton saying "I did not have sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky" except Clinton was under oath.

I think it is past time when any government representative be automatically under oath when they take the podium and speak to the American people. Congress should pass a law that elected officials and their staff are under oath to tell the truth when in front, behind, or anywhere under the official seal of this government.

Otherwise these people will lie and call it a mis-interpretation or mis-statement.
