I have known several Iranian people and they were really nice. One of them had a crush on me and we almost dated. I never once thought that these folks hated our American way of life. At least no more than I did.
So now a decade later or more and Iran is the boogeyman under the bed, or outside the window, or hiding in the alley waiting to slit our collective throats in our peaceful slumbers, much like Saddam was and before him
Momar Qaddafi used to be, or the
Sandinista's or the North Vietnamese or the Communists or the Irish who were in their time, the enemy of all good and true people in America.
No, I think the Iranians are a people who have a collective history that surpasses that of America. I think they have a culture and an identity that is much like our own. People who want to live in harmony with the earth and respect others right to be free and pursue happiness. Well perhaps that part about harmony with the earth doesn't apply to most Americans...
But essentially the thing is that Iranian people are very much like American people. They have a government that doesn't represent what most people think but there are too many issues with just surviving to do anything about it. In America we are led to believe that Iran is just a dirty place full of hateful little brown skinned people who want to see us suffer. They just want to have bread and tea. Maybe a sweet date huh? Their government is telling them the same thing about us. We hate them and want to make them suffer because we are rich and greedy and resentful.
So the leaders of America and Iran are just plain nuts. They should all be fired.
This frantic push to keep war going at all costs is transparent to me. Bush wants to keep funding his cronies. Defense department needs to keep pumping billions of taxpayer dollars into destruction, we need an enemy that we can't find, so we can continue along the path of war and destruction, hate and fear.
So when I see a security estimate that declares Iran is not trying to develop an atomic bomb but only want to provide power for their country I understand why Bush sputters and moans about how dangerous Iran is. It is his responsibility to keep us scared and in danger.
Of course I had considered that this is the same
intelligence agency that gave us the
WsMD info in Iraq and now perhaps, like that they are wrong again. Maybe it is a case of Bush crying wolf and now no one believes him. (I can't imaging that anyone ever did but there we have it) Maybe Iran IS developing a
nucle er
nukeyoular bomb and no one will believe Bush because he is such a habitual liar. Did I mention that we have evidence that Bush is a lying fucktard?
In the mean time hunger, poverty and
disease tap on the window asking if anyone remembers them. They are still really trying to make a difference in our lives.
