When the ultra rich call for it why do the middle class oppose it?
Warren Buffett said today,
"Dynastic wealth, the enemy of a meritocracy, is on the rise. Equality of opportunity has been on the decline," since Bush took office and went on to say that "A progressive and meaningful estate tax is needed to curb the movement of a democracy toward plutocracy."
So why do people like my brother think that this tax applies to him (it doesn't, or if it does he's been lying to me about how his finances are doing) or anyone else in our family?
It is because it is framed as a "Death Tax" that hits everyone. It isn't a tax on 90% of Americans. There are no more family farms sold off to pay for taxes because they couldn't cover the "Death Tax". That is just another lie from the ultra rich who don't want to see anything go back to the people it came from. Mainly us. The middle class.

You're correct in your echo of the statement that "Dynastic wealth is the enemy of a meritocracy".
I seek meritocracy. I crave meritocracy.
What do the leaders of your precious liberal movement crave?
Meritocracy?
Plutocracy?
Think Hillary.
Think Pelosi.
Biden and Reid and all the rest.
You and I are not so different. We just have different perspectives.
