I am a conservative but unlike the current breed of "conservatives" I do not believe that the Republican Party is conservative. The current administration is hell bent on spending money taking away rights and playing a shell game with our taxes. I am starting this post to be a direct assault on the radical conservative movement that seeks to distort the record, lie and dupe the American voters into believing they care, are right, and are conservative.

Bush and McCain are wrong

Calling on Congress to remove environmental protection and drill for oil off the coasts and in the ANWR is not going to alleviate gasoline prices. How is it that anyone would think for a second that anything Bush proposes is going to work out in the benefit of most Americans? What has he proposed thus far that has improved your life? Iraq, warrantless wiretaps, privatization of the Social Security administration, tax breaks for coal and oil companies, removing regulation, cutting funding for education, health, veterans... you name it. If Bush proposes it it is bad.
The exception to the rule is of course the natural marine reserve he designated but I can only assume that he did that because he was mistaken about what it actually was.

Oil extraction from our coastal waters will only make the oil companies more money.

If they are making more money now than they have ever made, indeed than any company has made since the inception of money, and they can't lower their costs at the pump, what makes you think they will do it if they are drilling off the Florida coast?

No, we will get dirty beaches, dead animals and still pay 3.50 at the pump.

There is only one side that wins in the Bush equasion. that is the top one percent. So if you're one of them you really want this to happen. Otherwise the other nintey nine percent of Americans will still get screwed at the pump. Detroit will not increase CAFE standards, bio-diesel will still elude us and we will not be any closer to energy independence than we are now.

Drilling will take a few years to implement and we need relief now. Besides the excuse they have used for the past decade is that refinery capacity can't keep up. When will Americans learn that we can't consume our way out of trouble?

I'm working on developing a car that runs solely on poodles. The major kink as of now is the steering. It's totally f'd up, just all over the place. Once I get that worked out it's going to be huge.

Oregon Offers to Pay to Kill, but Not to Treat Cancer Patient (bold/interjection is mine):

SALEM, Oregon, June 4, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Lung cancer patient, Barbara Wagner, was recently notified that her oncologist-prescribed medication that would slow the growth of cancer would not be covered by the Oregon Health Plan; the plan, however, she was informed, would cover doctor-assisted suicide should she wish to kill herself. Gee, don't you think that's nice of them?

"Treatment of advanced cancer that is meant to prolong life, or change the course of this disease, is not a covered benefit of the Oregon Health Plan," read the letter notifying Wagner of the health plan's decision. How utterly humanitarian!

Wagner says she was shocked by the decision. "To say to someone, we'll pay for you to die, but not pay for you to live, it's cruel," she told the Register-Guard. "I get angry. Who do they think they are?" Ms. Wagner dear, they thing they are God! They think they have the right to decide whether you live or die.

This past Monday morning, however, Wagner had reason to rejoice. A representative from the company that manufactures the treatment called the cancer patient to say they would give her the medication for free.

"I am just so thrilled," she said. "I am so relieved and so happy."
