Bush and McCain are wrong

Calling on Congress to remove environmental protection and drill for oil off the coasts and in the ANWR is not going to alleviate gasoline prices. How is it that anyone would think for a second that anything Bush proposes is going to work out in the benefit of most Americans? What has he proposed thus far that has improved your life? Iraq, warrantless wiretaps, privatization of the Social Security administration, tax breaks for coal and oil companies, removing regulation, cutting funding for education, health, veterans... you name it. If Bush proposes it it is bad.
The exception to the rule is of course the natural marine reserve he designated but I can only assume that he did that because he was mistaken about what it actually was.

If they are making more money now than they have ever made, indeed than any company has made since the inception of money, and they can't lower their costs at the pump, what makes you think they will do it if they are drilling off the Florida coast?

No, we will get dirty beaches, dead animals and still pay 3.50 at the pump.

There is only one side that wins in the Bush equasion. that is the top one percent. So if you're one of them you really want this to happen. Otherwise the other nintey nine percent of Americans will still get screwed at the pump. Detroit will not increase CAFE standards, bio-diesel will still elude us and we will not be any closer to energy independence than we are now.

Drilling will take a few years to implement and we need relief now. Besides the excuse they have used for the past decade is that refinery capacity can't keep up. When will Americans learn that we can't consume our way out of trouble?
